Lissette Perez
Biography
Lissette Perez is the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator for the University of Miami's Department of Neurology and Movement Disorders. With 14 years of experience in the research field of movement disorders and deep brain stimulation (DBS) programs. She was a research coordinator during the early stages of DBS trials and was among the first sites to participate in pioneering DBS research with St. Jude Medical’s Libra™/Libra™, Abbott, and the Boston Scientific Intrepid study. These trials were instrumental in securing FDA approvals for many DBS systems currently available to patients. Lissette has witnessed numerous technological advancements in DBS and is currently collaborating on the Boston Scientific DBS Illumina 3D study, which utilizes an algorithm like artificial intelligence. Another innovative DBS study is the Abbott Roam-DBS study where patients benefit from incorporation of Virtual Clinic teleprogramming which allows patients to be programmed by a neurologist from the comfort of their homes. The significant quality-of-life improvements DBS has brought to the lives of countless patients is a source of great excitement for her. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Lissette graduated from Miami Dade College in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in management and Supervision. Over the years, she has developed a deep appreciation for the work done at the University of Miami and the care it provides. In her free time, she enjoys boating, snorkeling, and taking nature hikes with her granddaughter and family.
