Corneliu Luca, M.D., Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Corneliu C. Luca is a neurologist and clinician-researcher in the Department of Neurology at University of Miami and Associate Professor of Neurology. He has completed residency training at University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital and earned a PhD in molecular biology studying mechanisms of neurodegeneration. He has also completed a fellowship in movement disorders at University of Miami– a Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence. He is a board certified movement disorders neurologist with a practice that focuses on advanced treatments for Parkinson’s disease such as deep brain stimulation and patients with gait disorders.
Dr. Corneliu Luca is medical director of the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) clinical program at University of Miami, and the Director of Movement Disorders Fellowship. He served as principal investigator in more than 30 clinical trials for Parkinson’s disease, and is an active member of Parkinson Study Group, a world recognized clinical trial network for movement disorders. He has published over 80 scientific papers, book chapters and abstracts and is recognized nationally for his clinical and translational research in the movement disorders. His research has received support from National Institutes of Health, American Academy of Neurology, and Parkinson’s Foundation.
